Pakistan outclassed England in all departments of game on Wednesday to win the one-off T20 international by nine wickets, ending the tour on a high note. This was Pakistan’s first win against England in T20Is after losing five consecutive games previously.
After a disciplined bowling, Pakistan displayed perfect aggression to reach the target of 136 runs with 31 balls remaining.
Opening the innings, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Lateef provided Pakistan a flying start of 107 runs – Pakistan’s highest against England in the shortest format of the game - which made England bowling look helpless.
Sharjeel Khan was Pakistan’s only wicket to fall in the chase, who was caught by Moeen Ali off Adil Rasheed after scoring 59 off 36 balls. His innings included three sixes and seven boundaries.
Khalid Latif remained not out after scoring 59 off 42 deliveries with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes, his best T20i score.
Earlier, England also got the brilliant start after Morgan won the toss and opted to bat with Jason Roy and Alex Hales taking England’s score to 53/0 in the power play overs.
But, soon after power play, Pakistan fought back and displayed disciplined bowling to restrict England to 135 for 7 in 20 overs.
Pakistani bowlers conceded only one boundary in last ten overs and overall it conceded only ten boundaries and a six.
Wahab Riaz ended with his career best bowling figures of 3 for 18 while young Hassan Ali got two wickets giving 24 runs.
With this win, as Sarfaraz earlier aimed, Pakistan ended the tour on a winning note.
